At Brown & Brown Absence Services Group, we believe great leadership is the foundation of innovation and success. Our commitment to delivering transformative solutions for our customers and teammates drives us to assemble a leadership team that embodies knowledge, experience and creativity. Together, we are not just navigating the future – we are actively shaping it.
This month, we are thrilled to spotlight George Falcon, Vice President, Client Services, whose passion and vision inspire us all to reach new heights.
George brings a wealth of experience to the table, with more than 30 years in the insurance industry, particularly in the employee benefits sector. His specialization centers on group and voluntary benefits, as well as absence management.
Throughout his career, George has successfully led operations in claims, contact centers and account management for several prominent disability carriers, making him a valuable asset to our team.
Today, as a respected leader within our organization, George reflects on his journey. We asked him to share insights about his career at Brown & Brown Absence Services Group and what excites him about the organization’s future. Here’s what George had to say.
What led you to work here?
Having worked for disability carriers for more than 30 years, I was interested in approaching our industry’s challenges from a different perspective, and a serendipitous conversation with my friend and colleague of many years, Michael Cleveland, about an opportunity to join the team here led to me joining Brown & Brown in this role. I always said if I were to work outside the carrier environment, it would need to be with a team of smart folks who were serious about claims and serious about claim service, and that’s what we are.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The relationships with claim leadership at our carrier partners as they grapple with problems and achieve success. Leading an organization that has such deep talent and being able to align that expertise to the unique needs of our clients and carrier partners is very rewarding. The truth is that I am a bit of a “claim geek” who loves to foster strong relationships that help our industry to be successful.
What is your work background?
I grew up in the group disability carrier environment and have had the good fortune to lead teams and organizations for some of our industry’s top carriers, supporting claim intake, claim practices and sales/relationship management. The most rewarding roles I’ve had always involved managing relationships with external customers and operational partners to solve problems and define solutions.
What makes you excited about the goals and future of the company?
At Brown & Brown Absence Services Group, we’re uniquely qualified to help our clients and carrier partners facilitate growth and improve profitability. Our own goals speak to that focus in a way that emphasizes the growth and welfare of our business, our teammates and our customers alike. I’m honestly inspired by the way we remain nimble as a team that’s not afraid to try (and to be successful at doing) hard things.
What is something about your role that may surprise people, even your fellow teammates?
Sometimes the most important thing I can do in my role is get out of the way. At times, the role I play looks a lot like a “chief hurdle clearer” so our competent and hard-working teammates can do what they do so well. I’m surrounded by a very capable team that’s invested in our success. A leader really can’t ask for much more than that.
Great leadership is essential for any organization aiming to thrive in today’s competitive landscape. It serves as the driving force that inspires teams, fosters collaboration and cultivates a positive work culture.
Ultimately, strong leadership is not just about making decisions; it’s about inspiring others to achieve greatness together, ensuring that the organization not only survives but thrives.
